アメリカ、カリフォルニア州出身。

独学で日本語を学び、文部科学省の奨学金を受け来日。

上智大学 比較文化学部 国際政治学 専攻。

その後、翻訳業を通してCMやテレビ番組等のナレーションを務める。

15年間以上NHKエデュケーショナルの様々な番組に関わり、世界160ヵ国で見られているNHK国際放送へ出演の他、数多くの番組、CM、映画にナレーターや司会者として活躍。

この17年間、誰もが一度は耳にしたことがある声！

MaXwell Powers

Hailing from Oakland, CA., Max was awarded the Ministry of Education scholarship to Japan after years of independent study. He majored in International Relations at Sophia University’s Department of Comparative Culture, becoming a freelance translator, which led to work on commercials and TV program narration.

For over 15 years, he has contributed to many of NHK Educational’s English teaching programs as well as NHK World programs exploring Japanese culture broadcast in 160 countries worldwide, as well as countless TV shows, commercials, movies, and as an MC for major international events.

His voice has most likely been heard in some form by every person in Japan over the last 17 years.

His motto: “I want to connect Japan and the World more than ever before!”
